SA two shots off the pace after the first round

Members of Spainish team from the left Juan Fransciso Sarasti and Moises Cobo ArrayaThe South African amateur golf team pairing of Derik Ferreira and Adrian Ford, finished yesterday's first round of the Juan Carols Tailhade Cup team competition two shots off the pace. Both players recorded rounds of 73, two over par, to record a team score of 146, four over par.

The 72 hole stroke play tournament, which is both a team and individual competition, is being played at the Los Lagartos Country Club outside Buenos Aires in Argentina.

Leaders, after 18 holes, are the teams from Spain and England. Each recorded team scores, in which both players scores count, of 144, two over par.

The best round of the day went to Nino Daniele Bertasio, from Italy, and Fernando Chiesa, from Argentina, who both recorded 69, two under par. They are one shot clear of the field.

Both South Africans finished their rounds on two over par, 73, and are grouped in 20th place, tied with ten other players, in the individual competition.

The second round is played today, with Ford and Ferreira being paired with the hosts Argentina. They have been given a late tee off time.

The final round will be played on Sunday.
