Felix Palson from Sweden took the second round lead at the Duke of York Young Champions Trophy, while top ranked Ivanna Samu battled the blustery conditions to cling to the 10 spot and fellow South African Dylan Naidoo preserved a top 20 position in Kent, England on Thursday.

The 18-year-old Swede took pole position at four under 140 with consecutive 70s at the Prince’s Golf Club in Sandwich, Kent.

He leads by one from Finland’s Oliver Lindell (68), Joaquin Neimann from Chile (70) and Jamie Li from England (70), while overnight leader Carlotta Ricolfi struggled in the testing conditions and slipped to joint third with a 75.

South Africa’s Samu picked up birdies at two and 15, but lost the advantage with bogeys at 10, 12 and 16.

The reigning Nomads SA Girls champion closed with a one-over-par 73 to tie for 10th with Sarah Nilsson from Sweden on one over 145.

Naidoo from Central Gauteng was flawless through the front nine, but bogeyed 11, 14 and 15.

The 2015 Nomads SA Boys U-19 Stroke Play champion finished alongside playing partner Grace St. Germain from Canada in joint 18th on six over 150.

The 16-year-old Samu hit eight greens in regulation and nine fairways, while Naidoo also struggled off the tee. Both players will be looking to improve their accuracy for Friday’s final round.
