South Africa’s four-man Mid-Amateur team will go head-to-head with France for the prestigious International Team Mid-Amateur Championship title at the Golf Du Medoc Resort near Bordeaux on Sunday.

South Africa beat 10 other teams the Qualifying Round and continued their winning march with clean sweeps in the first round and quarter-final on Saturday to reach the final.

After combining for 207 to edge out France by three strokes in Friday’s qualifier, the South African team defeated Switzerland 3-0 in a round of foursomes and two singles matches to reach the quarter-finals.

They trumped Bordeaux Les by the same margin to celebrate double success at the Chateaux Course on Saturday.

South Africa faced the local favourites in a two-day Test ahead of the top international team competition and came away the champions after a 5.5 – 2.5 triumph.
