The 26th INDWE SA Senior Amateur Inter-Provincial in Stellenbosch is heading for an epic final round showdown after Western Province pushed Central Gauteng from their perch at De Zalze Winelands Golf Estate on Thursday.

The host union whipped both Eastern Province and North West Province 9.5 – 2.5 to take their tally to 10 points and bump Central Gauteng into second spot with 48.5 game points.

The defending champions, hunting their eighth title in 10 years, also reached 10 points with a 7 – 5 victory against Ekurhuleni. The defending champions lag just five game points behind, however, this small deficit could make all the difference when the two teams line up for the title fight on Friday.

Gauteng North, who will also play against the two log leaders, endured a day of mixed fortunes.

The Daisies downed Mpumalanga 7.5 – 4.5, but came unstuck against a determined KwaZulu-Natal.

The coastal side handed Gauteng North an 8 – 4 drubbing and defeated Mpumalanga 8.5 – 3.5.

Eastern Province drew 6-all with North West Province and will have to pull out all the stops in the final round to avoid relegation to the B-Section next year.

Meanwhile, the B-Section battle for promotion at Erinvale is also heading for a dog fight after Southern Cape and Free State both finished day three on four points.

The Garden Route side moved to the top of the log courtesy of a slight edge in game points, though.

They lead Free State 18.5 – 14.5.

SUPER SENIORS
