Central Gauteng's Matthew Spacey and Darin de Smidt vs Jade Buitendag and Cameron Moralee from Southern Cape

Central Gauteng strengthened their chances to capture the 55th South African Inter-Provincial title with a near clean sweep in the Foursomes on day four at Glendower Golf Club.

Ryan Dreyer and Darin de Smidt claimed first blood when they knocked out Andre Nel and Jade Buitendag 5 & 4.

Andi Dill aced the 14th and combined with Matthew Spacey for a birdie at 15 to beat Ivan Williams and Franklin Manchest 5 & 3, while David Meyers and Marco Steyn cleaned up for a 2 & 1 result against Nicholas Mitchell and Heinrich Frylinck.

Southern Cape’s Jovan Rebula and Cameron Moralee prevented a whitewash when they squared their game against birthday boy Basil Wright and Jason Viljoen, but Central will take a comfortable 3.5 – 1.5 lead into the Singles.

Teagan Moore and Paul Boshoff won 2-up, Angus Ellis-Cole and Kyle McClatchie combined to win 2 & 1 and Sentanio Minnie partnered Dylan Mostert to beat Andile Adam and Fezekile Kana 2 & 1.

Pieter Rademeyer and Jacques Smith trounced Ekurhuleni stalwarts Rowan du Preez and Ernest Botha 4 & 3 to avoid a clean sweep.

Western Province’s woes continue after Boland edged 2.5 – 1.5 ahead in the Foursomes.

Drew Denyer and Werner Theart won the first game 2 & 1, but Daniel Mantel and Johan Germishuys won 2-up to level the match.

Pierre de Villiers and Karl Ocshe gain a half point against Carlo O’Reilly and Michael Sherriff, but Herman Loubser and Armandt Scholtz clinched the lead for Boland when they defeated Altin van der Merwe and Gerlou Roux at the final hole.

Meanwhile Gauteng North, KwaZulu-Natal and Free State have emerged as the early dictators in the B-Section Foursomes.

Gauteng North whipped North West a 4 – 0, KwaZulu-Natal obliterated Mpumalanga in all four games and the Free State walked all over Limpopo.
