Ekurhuleni golfer Christiaan Bezuidenhout and Southern Cape player Cameron Moralee continued to struggle at the RB German Junior in Gut Neuzenhof, Germany.

Bezuidenhout did well to recover from a quadruple bogey in the first round to fight his way to an opening 74, but the country’s number three ranked golfer ran into more problems at the par-72 layout of the GolfClub Heddesheim on Wednesday.

For a second day running, the Ernie Els and Fancourt Foundation member battled a balky putter and the result of a handful of lip-outs was two bogeys, a double and triple bogey, offset by four birdies.

His resulting 75 left the Nigel golfer in joint 38th place on five-over-par 149 and 17 shots off the pace from joint leaders, Christopher Dammert (66-66) and Philipp Bogel (65-67) from Germany.

Meanwhile Kingswood golfer Moralee improved by four shots on his opening 82 to move to joint 53rd on 16 over 160.

In the Girls Division, KwaZulu-Natal’s Michaela Fletcher is five shots off the pace and placed third at the 36-hole mark of the prestigious World Junior Golf Series event in Germany after carding a three-under-par 69.

South Africa’s Lara Weinstein launched to a tie for 13th with a 71 to join junior Cara Gorlei (75) at seven over 151. The final member of the South African team, Korean-born Ji Sun Kang, also improved four shots on her opening 78 to tie for 17th at nine over 153.
