Nomads SA Boys U15 Strokeplay Championship Day 3

30 Apr 2012

The 3rd round of the NOMADS SA Boys U15 Strokeplay Championship at Somerset West Golf Club  was played in gale force wind conditions with the leaders playing their final few holes in driving rain.   The atrocious conditions certainly did not deter some good scoring with the first tournament sub-par score being recorded by Ekurhuleni’s Kyle McClatchie. His 71 included 5 birdies and 4 drop shots.  Marco Steyn (Central Gauteng) had a level par 72 with 73’s being posted by David Meyers and Jovan Rebula.

After 54 holes the tournament leader is Jovan Rebula on 222 with Kyle McClatchie moving up the field with to-day’s outstanding round, to lie 2 shots behind. In 3rd place is Central Gauteng’s Marco Steyn (227) and joint 4th is Gauteng North’s Rosswell Sinclair (228) and Central’s David Meyers (228).

A highlight of today was the hole-in-one recorded by Dylan Naidoo (Central Gauteng) at the par 3 13th. Interestingly in his round of 79 Dylan had a 1,2,3,4,5,6 & 7 on his scorecard!!

Central Gauteng leads the team event (1157) with Western Province 2nd (1166) and Kwazulu Natal 3rd (1178).

An interesting day’s golf is expected to-morrow.
