Haydn Porteous finishes 2nd at Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters

Haydn Porteous after winning the individual at the 2011 African Junior Golf Championship Qualifier

Haydn Porteous, with rounds of 72, 70, 67 and 70 for a 4 round total of 279(9 under), finished in a tie for second with Gavin Moynihan of Ireland (70, 69, 70 and 70) in the Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters which was played in the at Nizells Golf Club in Kent (UK) over the past weekend.

Toby Tree of England won the tournament by one shot. His rounds of 70, 72, 68 and 68 for a total 278 (10 under) were good enough for and a one shot victory in this annual event which is named after a legendary the British Boxer. The even always attracts a strong international field as it marks the final tournament which is used by Junior European Unions to finalize their national junior teams for the European Junior international events that take place around this time of the year.

Sir Henry Cooper passed away in May this year which made this year’s event a little more momentous than previous years.
