Letter: SAGA Handicap and Third Party Service Providers

There are a number of third party companies currently providing administration and other services to Golf Clubs. Some of these companies have also indicated that they wish to provide handicap services. I thought it appropriate to communicate to all golf clubs the SAGA position in relation to these third party service providers.

The South African Golf Association (SAGA) and Womens Golf South Africa (WGSA) today announced that they had finalised the purchase of the handicap business of the company National Golf Network (Pty) Ltd (NGN).

The SAGA intends to buy out the agreements NGN has entered into with Golf Clubs in relation to the provision of Handicap Services in order to establish the SAGA Handicap Server. The SAGA Handicap Server will be a repository of all affiliated golfers' scores and the single point for the verification of official handicaps for these golfers. SAGA announces changes to SAGA Handicap System

The SAGA Handicapping and Course Rating Committee has decided that as from 1 April 2010 the SAGA will discontinue with the Handicap Allowance.
