St Dunstans claims third Ernie Els Champs

The St Dunstans College team surprised everyone, themselves included, when they scored a runaway victory in the Ernie Els South African Primary Schools Championship at The Els Club Copperleaf on Saturday.

Jayden Schaper, Jordan Burnand, Warwick Purchase and Rylan Rees from the Benoni-based primary school in Ekurhuleni combined for an opening round 233 to take the lead on Friday and added a second 223 to claim the title with a team total of 456.

Ernie's Champs tees off at Copperleaf

Ernie Els might be flying the South African flag in the 95th PGA Championship at Oakhill, but the four-time Major champion will be keeping a close eye on proceedings at the third Ernie Els Primary Schools Championship, which tees off at The Els Club, Copperleaf near Pretoria today.

In a message to the qualifiers, Els wished the finalists a great championship and inspired them to keep hard at work at becoming the country’s next generation of Major winners.

Bezuidenhout vaults to top 25 in Germany

Ekurhuleni golfer Christiaan Bezuidenhout and Southern Cape player Cameron Moralee both climbed the leaderboard on the final day of the RB German Junior in Gut Neuzenhof, Germany.

Bezuidenhout saved his best for last and followed rounds of 74 and 75 at the Heddesheim Golf Club with a four-under-par 70 to vault from 38th to joint 23rd on three-over-par 223. Moralee from George added a 77 to his earlier rounds of 82 and 78 to tie for 52nd on 21 over 237.

SA juniors struggle at RB German Junior

Ekurhuleni golfer Christiaan Bezuidenhout and Southern Cape player Cameron Moralee continued to struggle at the RB German Junior in Gut Neuzenhof, Germany.

Bezuidenhout did well to recover from a quadruple bogey in the first round to fight his way to an opening 74, but the country’s number three ranked golfer ran into more problems at the par-72 layout of the GolfClub Heddesheim on Wednesday.

Bezuidenhout rallies at RB German Junior

Ekurhuleni golfer Christiaan Bezuidenhout underlined his growing stature with a spirited comeback from a quadruple bogey in the opening round of the RB German Junior in Gut Neuzenhof, Germany.

The country’s number three ranked golfer showed grit, determination and real depth of character when he rallied for an opening 74 at the par-72 layout of the GolfClub Heddesheim.
